The Bugatti Back On Top

For all the fast car fanatics out there, you’ll know that recently the Hennessey Venom GT, which is much faster than even a Jaguar S-Type, was named as the fastest production car in the world after a ruling from the Guinness World Records. Well, following a reverse decision from the people at GWR, the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport has been reinstated as the world’s fastest. You just can’t predict this stuff, it’s more unrealistic than an Eastenders plot.

If you were too busy driving your Audi Q3 or your Hyundai Getz to read about recent events, the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport was stripped of its Guinness World Record due to some suspect speed-limiter removing on Bugatti’s part.

It seems incredibly strange for that the people at the Guinness World Records could make a ruling and then a complete U-turn on it the following week, but nevertheless that’s what happened and they released the following press statement.

“Following a thorough review conducted with a number of external experts, Guinness World Records is pleased to announce the confirmation of Bugatti’s record of Fastest production car achieved by the Veyron 16.4 Super Sport.

“The focus of the review was with respect to what may constitute a modification to a car’s standard specification.

“Having evaluated all the necessary information, Guinness World Records is now satisfied that a change to the speed limiter does not alter the fundamental design of the car or its engine.”
